Like the reboot of “Total Recall” that I just reviewed,”Sparkle” is splashier and better, in many ways, than its predecessor. Whitney Houston, in her swan song, turns in her finest screen performance and all of the casting is excellent, especially that of the three sisters. Jordin Sparks, in her debut screen role, is a revelation. Tika Sumpter is a scene stealer as the level-headed sister “Dolores” and Carmen Ejogo, is electrifying in her star making turn as the wild child with heart, “Sister”. I loved it!

Reviews of the latest movies.
Any film that opens with a half naked Colin Farell and ends with a half naked Colin Farrell is a definite go-see in TGATP’s book! This awesome re-make of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger film is smarter, faster, bigger, more action-packed, and sexier than the original!
“The Dark Knight Rises” is the most highly anticipated movie of the summer. TGATP lets you in on 10 things you didn’t know about the film.
This weekend, two new movies opened that TGATP thoroughly enjoyed! Starring Jason Stratham, Safe is an action-packed, thrill-ride with snappy dialogue. And The Raven is a great period piece for John Cusack and Edgar Allan Poe fans!
American Reunion is the perfect film to lift you out of any lingering Winter blues and get you chuckle ready for Spring. The gangs all back just as we came to know and love them!
Since bullying affects 13 million kids every day, “The Bully Project” is the one film that every family in America should see. So ignore the ridiculous R-rating, it could save your child or his schoolmates’ lives.
Mirror Mirror is the perfect mother-daughter girl’s day at the movies. It is visually stunning with a tour-de-force performance from Julia Roberts as the evil, but hilarious, stepmother.
Delivering his usual mix of snappy dialogue filmed in multiple exotic locales, Soderbergh describes Haywire as “a Pam Grier movie made by Alfred Hitchcock” and I would agree. With a revenge plot full of holes and cheesy acting from the lead, Haywire does, indeed, feel like an homage to ’70s exploitation films.
