Liberty of London for Target

With the economic times still very tight and not appearing to be getting better as quickly as we would like, the designer lines from Target are a budget fashionista’s dream!  The Liberty of London for Target line launched in NYC today, with a temporary pop-up store at 1095 6th Avenue and 42nd (right across from Bryant Park)! I was lucky enough to be invited to the media preview and provided with a gift card enabling me to shop for a couple of pieces.  All of the clothes are well made and classic with the signature Liberty prints that we have come to identify with the brand.  I am particularly fond of the dresses and the nightwear, as well as, the adorable line for babies!  In addition, the line includes fun swimwear, accessories, and a slew of fabulous home goods and office supplies that will add a touch of style to your home. (I am going back for a lampshade!)

As a curvy gal, I approach these previews with trepidation, as my options are usually very limited, so thank the Goddess, for a full range of sizes!  Even though the average American woman is a size 14, most of the budget designer lines mimic their high fashion roots and are inexplicably made for the very thin with the biggest an undersized 10/12, that is closer to an 8.  This was the unfortunate reality with the Anna Sui for Target line.  I completely adored all of the dresses, but could only buy a t-shirt due to ill-fitting cuts!  There was no real reason other than a size bias for this, as most of the Sui dresses were A-line shifts, a style that works for most women.  Fortunately, Liberty of London got it right and created a wide range of beautiful options in realistic sizes, allowing every woman to be able to have at least one Liberty outfit, to work into her wardrobe.  The one piece that they missed was the pretty little shift dress featured in the advertising in the pink and red version.  Wish that they had done that lovely number in larger sizes, as well, ’cause  I definitely would have bought that if I could’ve found one that fit!

The Liberty of London for Target pop-up store will be open till March 13 with the line in Target stores on March 14th.  As I was leaving the preview, scores of shoppers were pouring into the store, so I would suggest you hightail it and shop as fast as possible as things are flying off the shelves!
