TGATP New Favorite Restaurant: Social Eatz

Social Eatz (232 East 53rd St. b/t 2nd and 3rd) is the new hip eatery from Top Chef alumni (and hottie!) Angelo Sosa.   The menu, an Asian take on American comfort food, is both healthy and delicious with a highly creative array of dishes that will please every palate.  Tomato soup is given a spicy curry twist with a dollop of creme and a bit of cilantro.  The “hot dogs” are chicken sausages in a potato bun, topped with sweet relish, and served with a sharp cheese and sake sauce on the side.  Other outstanding  dishes include: the delectable smoked ribs, which are marinated in mesquite-smoked tamarind and braised for three hours then served with a peppery Korean pineapple bbq sauce and a sumptuous tofu burger marinated in soy with pickled peppery daikon.  My new favorite dessert is Sosa’s chocolate toffee brownie.  Not overly sweet it is sprinkled with sesame seeds, glazed with a sweet toffee topping and accompanied by a small cup of chai infused rice milk!  Best of all, the food is all sustainable.

In keeping with the restaurant’s Asian theme, Sosa also created some yummy fusion cocktails that, virgin or spiked, are perfect with your meal.   From the Carrot GInger Fizz to the Coconut Curry Daiquiri to the Monsoon Sour, you cannot go wrong.

With most dishes under $10, Social Eatz is the best new spot in the City to hang with friends for an affordable and completely unique meal.
