On Tuesday, May 4, noteworthy New Yorkers joined forces on to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Continuum Center for Heath & Healing, an innovative and thriving initiative of Beth Israel Medical Center, at Espace on West 42nd street in New York City.
This year, the Continuum Center toasted Donna Karan, whose Urban Zen initiative has created an optimal healing environment at Beth Israel Medical Center, where western medicine blends seamlessly with the spiritual and emotional needs of the patient. The Continuum Center’s founder Woodson Merrell, MD along with Beastie Boys front man Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Fernanda Niven & Eric Cahan, Rory Tahari, Gabby Karan De Felice,Michelle & Asher Edelman, Dayssi Kanavos, Sharon J. Handler & Ambassador John L. Loeb, Sheila C. Johnson, Margaret & Daniel Loeb, Pat Collins & Bill Sarnoff, Linda & Benjamin Lambert, Fiona & Eric Rudin, Paulette Cole, Charlotte Sarkozy, Somers & Jonathan Farkas, Caroline Hirsch, and Muffie Potter Astor were all on hand to raise their glasses to Ms. Karan. I love Donna as she is always gracious and wonderful to see. I also greatly admire the work she has done with Urban Zen, so it was a great honor to cover this event.
Throughout the evening, guests were treated to some of the program’s organic therapies, including an oxygen bar provided by AirHeads, an organic juice bar, and a reiki healing touch station. MeccaBodega, a New York City based percussion band will entertain guests during dinner. I particularly loved the oxygen which left me both clear headed and refreshed.
The evening also featured a rare and unique acoustic performance by international recording artist, Elvis Costello.
A silent auction, and support from sponsors including Canyon Ranch Living- Miami Beach, helped the Continuum Center for Health and Healing raise over $400,000 at the benefit.
