Halle Berry and Carla Bruni-Sarkozy present 22 Ways to Say Black

Swarovski Elements commissioned 22 of fashion’s most notable known names and talented newcomers to design one-of-a-kind little black dresses for a charity auction held at the acclaimed Philips de Pury Gallery. The dresses, all creatively embellished with  Swarovski crystals, were on view at the gallery for two weeks before the auction.  A full 100% of  the sales from the auction, and an accompanying coffee book,  went to benefit the American Cancer Society and La Lique Nationale Contre Le Cancer in France.

The 22 dresses were designed by: Giorgio Armani Prive, Givenchy by Ricardo Tisci, Lanvin by Alber Elbaz, Vivienne Westwood, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alberta Ferretti, Alexis Mabille, Azzaro, Boudicca, Catherine Malandrino, Diane Von Furstenberg, Donna Karan/DKNY, Fendi, Gaspard Yurkievich, Gianfranco Ferre, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marios Schwab, Valentino, and my four favorites were from Missoni, Martin Grant, Sonia Rykiel, and Thakoon.

On the way in, I ran into Sherri Shepherd, who was so rudely handled by a clueless clipper that she jumped back into her limo and took off.  I tried to get her to come back but she was pretty po’d by this ill treatment.  I don’t blame her as the folks on the door should always be up on celebrity who’s whos.  It was wonderful to see the lovely Halle Berry up close for the first time and I am still a fan despite the fact that she personally promised TGATP a shot then never took it.  I will forgive her this time as her handlers were overly aggressive and seemed to have forgotten that a) they work for  her not vice versa and b) this is NY, not LaLa Land, and that kind of OTT security is really not done inside NY Society events.  Met RHONYC’s Jill Zarin and her hubby, Bobby for the first time and caught up with the effervescent Phillip Bloch and gorgeous and down-to-earth Kimberly Guilfoyle.
