My Grandmother became ardently religious after she overcame a years long alcohol addiction. I followed in her path but at a much younger age. I credit being able to kick alcohol and the many blessings that came after, with surrendering all problems to God. Easter always makes me pensive and a bit sad at the persecution that Jesus went through all for wanting to teach the world to Love and that Life is everlasting.
This Easter has been particularly challenging for me and is requiring a lot of Faith, as I am going through a bit on the home front. In addition, it is the 5th anniversary of my beloved Mom, Naomi’s sudden death. But it is always in the darkest of times when we must stop amd turn to the Light, so I am viewing this challenging time as a period to reconnect and fully engage with Spirit. I am spending this weekend getting to know Jesus better – his Life and his words.
Here are some of my favorite quotes from him:
On Love
Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered.
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
On The Importance of The Word
Become earnest about the word! For as to the word, its first part is faith; the second, love; the third, works; for from these comes life.Hearken to the word; understand knowledge; love life, and no one will persecute you, nor will anyone oppress you, other than you yourselves.
On Living For Today
Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.
On Faith in Abundance
So I say to you, Ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.
On Connecting To Your Spiritual Self
If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you.
On Life Everlasting
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
On Living Right
For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?
All the commandments: You shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal, you shall not covet, and so on, are summed up in this single command: You must love your neighbor as yourself.
On Being Humble
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.
On Not Judging People
Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to cast a stone.
On Being There For Us All
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
