As I get older, I am also getting much more into crafts, especially for the holidays. This past summer, I went to a wonderful preview and met the amazing Lia Griffith. More beautiful than anything else of the market – sorry Martha – her craft kits are incredibly versatile and super-easy to make and sure to become holiday staples in millions of homes. Each holiday, I will be featuring different kits from this innovative and lovely line. First up, Halloween.
For the spookiest day of the year, Lia has created a number of beautiful craft items. Here are my favorite three:
Haunted Village|$8.49 – The Haunted Village set includes patterns for three frighteningly good haunted houses, as well as, the pattern for a spooky 3D paper tree and a picket fence complete with a witch’s cat. The great thing about this project is that you can print and cut as many little houses, trees or fences as you want. As a collection they make the perfect Halloween mantle display. Or you can pop them inside a hollowed pumpkin or as a Halloween decoration on their own. They are incredibly versatile and as always with Lia Griffith DIY projects, they are super-easy to make.
Cupcake Holders |$5.99 – Spider inspired cupcake holders made of cardstock are are food safe so don’t worry if they touch your cupcakes or frosting. Packet Includes (20) sheets of 6″x8″ shimmer cardstock with spider and cupcake liner die cut shapes.
Treat Boxes |$8.49 – These adorable treat boxes will be a hit with all your little trick or treaters! Easy to assemble, fill them with candy then sticker the outside for added holiday fun.

She shares her skills and experience with classes available on Cricut, Craftsy, Carte Fini, Michaels, Spoonflower and CreativeBug. Lia is continually building her series of video tutorials on her YouTube channel and will launch her very own online Craft School in September 2016.
Lia partnered with Cricut to launch the Lia Griffith Edition Cricut Explore Air™ Bundle in the Spring of 2015. She also launched her first line of stamps, dies and inks with Hero Arts and is working with JoAnn Fabric and Craft Stores to launch an exclusive line of craft kits and decorations for Fall and Halloween 2016. Now, Lia is leading the crepe paper revival with her own line of extra fine crepe papers in partnership with German manufacturer Werola.
Lia’s creative career path has helped to influence her design style today in many ways. Her experience in restaurant and retail design developed her flair for interior design, her children’s clothing line inspired her love and passion for pattern and fabric, her flower boutique shaped her knowledge of floral design and understanding of flower anatomy to recreate in paper. Lia created and shared her first paper rose template while she was working as Creative Director at a wedding stationery company, and realized that she had found something special. After witnessing the success of her paper flower tutorials, it became her mission to teach, inspire and reignite creativity in others.
In recent years Lia has garnered praise for her stunning Papier Couture collection – a portfolio of 35 paper dresses which appeared on the runway and in art galleries. Lia also won the Scotch Brand Most Gifted Wrapper contest in New York City in 2012. Take a peek at some of Lia’s press features here.
Lia’s greatest loves are her daughter Emily, her dog Enzo and traveling in Europe. She adores a cozy, comfy (and drop dead gorgeous) living space and is thoroughly enjoying being able to embrace her age, with all the experience and wisdom it brings. When she’s not sharing her DIY knowledge, Lia indulges in making gourmet spreads for friends and family, and especially loves to cook and bake yummy gluten-free goodies.
