How To Get Glowing Skin In Time For The Holidays From Ekin Ozlen

The holiday season is usually a time filled with dozens of catch ups, family dinners, office parties and multiple festive gatherings. This year, things are a little different, and those precious times with family and friends aren’t a guarantee as the pandemic is keeping us further apart than ever. Nevertheless, whether we’re opposite our loved ones at the dinner table, or spending time with friends through a screen, we still want to be able to look and feel good for the most wonderful time of the year.

The festive season brings many opportunities to eat, drink and indulge (and rightly so), but this can affect the appearance of our skin at a time when we want that holiday glow. But there are a few very simple steps you can follow to make sure you don’t deprive yourself of the things you love this Christmas.

Cleanse regularly

Unless you work in a city with a lot of pollution, there’s no way for us to see with the naked eye exactly just how much grime and dirt builds up on our faces over the course of the day – but have confidence that it is not pretty under a microscope. Whether or not you feel like your face is clean, it is essential that you cleanse regularly with a product that works best for your skin. This may be with micellar water, a foam wash, cleansing cream or even gel. Cleansing your skin once a day if you have sensitive skin, and twice if you have oily skin, will prevent buildups of grime and dirt and subsequent breakouts.

Exfoliate

The benefits of regular exfoliation are extensive, and best of all, the results can be instantaneous. If you’ve been overdue for a good exfoliation, removing that dead layer of skin is incredibly satisfying, and will leave you glowing instantly. Proper exfoliation will remove dead skin cells to prevent clogged pores, which can lead to acne. In addition, exfoliating will allow the products you do use on your skin to penetrate more deeply. Once or twice a week should do it – it’s effectively like starting fresh!

Drink water, and lots of it

If you’re a regular water drinker, you’ve probably convinced yourself that it’s the solution to all your problems. Tired? Drink water. Hungry? Drink water? Headache? Drink water. Want to lose weight? Drink water. But it really is so essential in maintaining healthy skin, and crucial to get that glow. The adult human body is made up of 60% water, and shouldn’t be underestimated in making sure everything is working correctly. Drinking at least two liters of water a day (three if you really want to reap the benefits) will flush out toxins to prevent breakouts and will ensure that skin continues to glow. The extra trips to the bathroom are worth it, I swear.

Wear sunscreen

Surprisingly, it’s only been somewhat recently that people have started to really understand the importance of applying sunscreen daily. Whether you apply actual sunscreen, or a product with SPF in it, this is absolutely crucial in slowing down the anti aging process and protecting your skin from sun damage. Remember that even on cloudy winter walks or holiday shopping outdoors, UV rays are still hitting your face. Be strict with this and your skin will be glowing well beyond the holiday season.

Invest in your skin

The products you put on your face are as important as the food you put into your body. You don’t want to consume food with lots of artificial additives and preservatives, so in the same way, you shouldn’t be cutting corners when it comes to skincare. By spending more on products that will offer more benefits to your skin and are made with the very best ingredients, you will see continuously good results.

Have a routine and stick to it

Your skin care routine doesn’t need to be an extensive 20 steps that puts you off before you’ve even started it. A simple three step regimen will suffice. In the morning: cleanse, serum, moisturize with sunscreen. In the evening: cleanse, serum, moisturize. Add exfoliation once a week and you’ll be glowing every day. An eye cream is a bonus as well.

Finding a routine that works for you is the most important thing, and it takes a bit of trial and error before you find something that’s right for you. I apply the KERACELL CBD Enzyme Exfoliating Scrub and leave it on my skin to allow the enzymatic action to go to work to sluff off all those dead skin cells to really get that holiday glow. Then I rinse it off gently & manually in circular motions. I follow that up with KERACELL Anti-Aging Hydrating Mist before applying my KERACELL Anti-Aging Serum. If I’m prepping my skin for the next day I apply the KERACELL CBD Overnight Sleeping Beauty Mask, which leaves my skin plump and hydrated AND helps me get a good night’s sleep.

Once you find a routine that works for you, it will become as normal as brushing your teeth.
