We were recently invited by Arm and Hammer to a wonderful event at nail palace Paintbox, in Soho. While getting the best manis in NY, we were hipped to the many uses of baking soda as a natural beauty aid. Our favorites are these four:
1. Nail Cleansing And Whitening – Baking soda works, like magic, to whiten nails in between polish applications. Once you have removed your polish, wash your hands thoroughly. Then make a small paste of equal parts water and equal parts baking soda and gently scrub each nail with it. Rinse again and you are ready for your mani!
2. Teeth Whitening – For an instant pearly white smile, make a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide and brush your teeth, ;eave the paste on for 5 minutes, then rinse. Baking soda also freshens your breath by neutralizing the acids in your mouth.
3. Clarify Your Hair – Over time, product build-up can dull hair and cause breakage. Add a pinch of baking soda to your shampoo to restore hair to its best state and make your products more effective.
4. Blackhead Extraction – Blackheads are often really small and extraction can be painful. This home remedy keeps them at bay. Make a paste of 1 teaspoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon distilled water. Steam your face to open your pores, then exfoliate with the baking soda paste concentrating on your t-zone. Leave for a minute, then rinse.
