Quintessentially hosts FIT Couture Council Summer Party 2010

Last night, The Couture Council of the Museum of FIT held their annual Summer Party at the Cultural Services Building of the French Embassy.  Hosted by Quintessentially and loaded with glittering fashionistas, the night was a raving success.

The evening was chaired by Yaz Hernandez, Alexandra Lebenthal, Charlotte Moss and Liz Peet and the designers that attended included: Anait Bian, Edmundo Castillo, Maria Cornejo, Francisco Costa, Christina Cota, Cathy Hardwick, Joan Helpern, Eric Javitz, Pat Kerr, Daryl Kerrigan, Gemma Khang, Emmet McCarthy, Nicole Miller, Ralph Rucci, Zang Toi, and Patricia Underwood.

TGATP was, as usual, very happy to see the sparkling Alex McCord, her fun hubby Simon Van Kempen, the always bubbly Carson Kressley, and fellow e-lebrity Tia Walker. Other guests in attendance included:  Kimberly Gillefoyle, Councilwoman Caroline Maloney, James Andrews, Melissa Berkelhammer, Deeda Blair, Claudia Cisneros, Cece Cord, Suzi Cornish, Carmen D’Alessio, Christophe de Menil, Kathleen Doyle, Peter Davis, Martha Kramer Fox, Douglas Hannant, Anthony Haden-Guest, Jane Holzer, Eleanora and Michael Kennedy, Yue-Sai Kan, Mariana Kaufman, Mrs. Ray Kelly, Scott McBee, Carlos Ponce, Judy and Peter Price, Jean Shafiroff, Hunt Slonem, Emma Snowdon-Jones, Barbara Tober, and Alexa Winner.

The annual FIT Couture Council Summer Party is New York’s biggest August fashion event.  With so many socialites on vacation this month, the fashion world is here preparing for Fashion Week.  Designers, Upper East Side women and downtown hipsters all came together to make the event a total blast!  As is tradition, Dr. Joyce Brown, President of FIT, gave the summer party toast announcing that this September’s FIT Annual Luncheon honoring Karl Lagerfeld, is completely sold out.  Dr. Brown urged the guests, who were not already members, to join the Couture Council to prevent missing out on their future hot events.

With the venue less exclusive than last year, the usual suspects from Crasherville slipped through, including “Comcast Dude” and “Hatchet Face”.  (A source tells me that they also all stopped by the Fuji 3-D launch and stole the $500 a pop loaner 3-D cameras that were passed out!) Drew Fiedler (a.k.a. “Adrian Field”) who despite inexplicably being named the “ fashion market editor” for VIBE magazine was inappropriately clan in – gasp! – a George Hamilton-style orangey tan and shortie shorts!  Definitely a strange and bad choice for a supposed fashion editor at an evening cocktail soiree populated with well-heeled fashion folk!
