There have been some things that I have done, as That Girl At The Party, that have become instant forever moments. Last night provided was one of those occasions.
I had a complete blast at the small event held by Memphis Travel in the Raines Law Room Library at The William Hotel last night. Hosted by Milton Howery III, the Director of PR for Memphis and his colleague, Kevin Kern with Angie Marchese from Graceland, this elegant and intimate event featured yummy food, great cocktails (y’all know I am alcohol-free but the other folks seemed to be enjoying them!), and engaging conversations from our perfect hosts.
The highlight of the evening was the opportunity to preview a selection of Elvis‘ most prized possessions from Graceland! I have been a big Elvis fan since I was a wee child, so to even be near his cape gave me literal goosebumps. I was absolutely delighted when Angie allowed me to try on his ring and touch the cape!
The gift bag had an Elvis Jailhouse Rock figurine and some funky glasses that are replicas of the ones Elvis used to wear in his white jumpsuit, karate era. I will be rocking mine all summer!
From Graceland to the Stax Museum to Al Green‘s church, Memphis sounds like a perfect destination for a quick getaway packed with cool sites, great music, and good eats. I plan to go this summer, so will do a full travel story featuring my Memphis adventures once I do.
