Upscale Mallrats Mingle At The Hudson Yards Opening

The Pinecone At Hudson Yards

The Shops & Restaurants At Hudson Yards opened amidst much hoopla and fanfare on Thursday night. I had a blast checking out the new space. There is something for everyone and every budget. Uniqlo, my fav go-to for tees and basics has a small space. On the luxury side, Fendi is present as is Van Cleef. There are also some wonderful family newer stores, like Milk and Honey, a luxury baby and toddlers shop and MGems, an Italian shoe line that previously was only available online. On the food side, there are restaurants from everyone’s favorite chef, Thomas Keller and international superstar and humanitarian, Jose Andres, as well as, David Chang’s Fuku, Blue Bottle Coffee, Bouley Bakery, Shake Shack, Van Leeuwen and more.

With 13,000 people in attendance, the Shops & Restaurants opening was so busy that I missed all the stars! I didn’t run into my beloved Andy Cohen, missed Katie Holmes and also missed Liza Minnelli! For some reason – perhaps safety – the observation deck was closed during the opening, so I will be back to check that out. I grew up with a shopaholic Mama, so we went to the mall every Saturday. I previously had to travel out to NJ for a mall experience, so I am thrilled to have a new mall right in the City.

The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards is part of a $25 billion – yes, $25 BILLION DOLLAR – mega-development from Related Companies and Oxford Properties, which will include 18 million square feet of real estate featuring the mall, the plaza and six towers with both residential and office space.
