Fashion Camp For The Fashionista Tween In Your Life

Gone are the one-interest fits all camp experiences of yesteryear. Nowadays, you can pick your child’s summer camp based on their hobbies and future career goals. For the fashion forward kids in your Life, try out Fashion Camp NYC, the premier fashion program for tweens and teens. Entering its 10th year empowering young people to discover their dreams in the fashion industry, Fashion Camp NYC will take place July 24th – 28th and July 31st – Aug 4th.

Fashion Camp NYC offers kids a one-of-a-kind experience that blends access and education with visits to iconic fashion houses, behind the scenes field trips, fashion-focused projects and trips to iconic NYC landmarks. Campers explore how brands are built and learn about the various aspects and disciplines within the fashion industry – including media (PR, blogging, social media), business (merchandising buying, retail management) styling, fashion technology and more. My one small caveat is a lack of Hispanic and African-American speakers. I would love to see more diversity, especially hispanic and African-Americans, in the lineups in the future as it is so very vital that children see people that look like them being successful in their chosen fields.

The cornerstone of Fashion Camp NYC is the dynamic speakers and access to renowned fashion houses.

This year’s confirmed speakers include:

  • Aya Kanai-Exec. Fashion Director at Cosmo/Seventeen, Judge on Project Runway Junior
  • Steven Alan – Fashion Designer/Founder of Steven Alan boutiques and Steven Alan Collection
  • Connie Wang – Fashion Features Director at Refinery29
  • Sophia Macks – Founder & CEO of Beyond the Mag
  • Cassandra Dimicco – Fashion Blogger

“Fashion Camp NYC exposes campers to the full breadth of the industry beyond just design and the result is a student who is poised for a career and education in fashion,” said Miriam Quart, the camp’s Director. “Through classroom education, field trips to top design houses, talks by leading industry insiders and hands-on exercises, campers are really given the behind-the-scenes, full picture of the fashion industry plus an unforgettable experience exploring the fashion capital of the world.”
