February is one of my favorite months of the year because the days get longer, which lifts my mood significantly. It is also time for one of my favorite holidays — Valentine’s Day— which offers another excuse to shop for gifts. Single this year, I am treating myself to some of these things on my lists!

I recently had a serious health scare that has prompted me to warn others about it — severe anemia. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Anemia affects 1.62 billion people globally, which is roughly 24.8% of the world’s population.
