Because there are so many competing products on the market and consumers often don’t know which is the best bang for their buck, I have decided to start a new category called “Hot or Not”. In this category, I will recommend the best product in an array of categories and also tell you which ones are a waste of your money. First up, one of my favorite products – home carbonators.
While Sodastream was the very first carbonator that I ever reviewed and owned, there are now two far better options on the market. So toss that Soda Stream or skip it altogether and upgrade to these two far superior products.
Aarke
Bringing carbonators to a new luxury level, this gorgeous innovation in carbonator design truly is the “world’s most beautiful sparkling water maker”! The product motto is “Home Carbonation Refined” and it does not disappoint. With six premium finishes – I am mad for the sleek Black chrome and the Rose Gold – there is something for every taste and kitchen. In addition, unlike the Soda Stream syrups that are loaded with sugar, aspartame and other bad ingredients, Aarke has partnered with the Six Barrel Soda Company that uses all real fruit, real spices and organic fair trade sugar. I really want this lovely machine.
ABOUT AARKE
Aarke means ”everyday” in Southern Sami, a language spoken by only 500 people in the north of Sweden. The Aarke brand was founded by two industrial designers, Jonas Groth and Carl Ljungh, with the objective to design, produce and sell premium household appliances, a category that has been forgotten by the design community.
Drinkmate
More affordable than the Aarke, the Drinkmate also have the advantage of being the only carbonator that allows you to carbonate anything! I have never understood why Soda Stream only allows for water carbonation, which makes little sense. The Drinkmate allows you to carbonate everything including juices and waters. You technically could even re-carbonate a flat soda! And the price is right at just $86. This is the best bang for your buck! I love it in the saucy red.
