Home invasion never seemed more terrifying! As the Davidson family gather for a family get together they discover they are not alone as some univited guests have shown up for dinner. More “Scream” than “The Conjuring”, You’re Next is twisty, good fun and a must see for every horror movie fan. You’ll laugh, you’ll scream, you’ll shout at the scream and you’ll have a blast! Definitely see this film if you are a fan of gory horror mixed with a bit of tongue-in-cheek.
It’s non-stop, jump out of your seat horror starring mostly unknown faces, which I always love, as superstars often stick out in horror movies. When you think of the scariest movies you have ever seen, they rarely had all-star casts. The cast of You’re Next includes Nicholas Tucci (who reminded me of an ex!), Wendy Glenn, AJ Bowen, Joe Swanberg, Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, and Rob Moran, along with scream queen Barbara Crampton of Re-Animator fame, making her return to the screen after a seven-year hiatus as matriarch Aubrey Davison. But the star of the show is Sharri Vinson, an Australian starlet, previously best known as “Natalie”, the Slurpee dancing girl in “Step Up 3”, who steals the movie as a tough-as-nails survival trained guest at the Davidson dinner/multiple crime scene. She’s having none of it and delivers some serious whoop ass including the most innovative use of a blender as a weapon ever filmed.
The plot line is innovative and will keep you guessing till the very end. I had a blast with an great audience, who shouted out hilarious asides. Definitely go and have fun with this one. I’m already looking forward to a “You’re Next 2”!
