TGATP Must Have: Temptu Airbrush Makeup System
Used on best supporting actress nominee Anna Kendrick and red carpet co-host Kathy Ireland at this year’s Oscars, Temptu is the future of makeup! Previously only available to professional make-up artists, this incredible airbrush machine is every gal’s best friend! This wonderful new innovation in make-up will revolutionize the market as it is lightweight, fuss free, and portable. It leaves such a flawlessly luminous coverage that it feels like a second skin! In addition, the Temptu airbrush machine is more sanitary than traditional makeup application since there is no skin contact with brushes or sponges, which are breeding grounds for bacteria. I had been eyeing them at Sephora for months when we were given one to review in the Nintendo Lounge during Fashion Week! What a blessing as I am hooked!
I have tried other airbrush machines and can honestly say that nobody does it better than Temptu! It only took me about ten minutes to put the machine together and to work out the best formula for my face. The pin is weightless and shaped to fit easily in your hand. And best of all, since the make-up is stored in handy pods, there is no need for intricate clean-ups. There are 12 shades of foundation, 4 blushes, and 4 highlighters, offering a wide range of shades to match every complexion regardless of age, ethnicity, skin tone, or undertone. Since I started using Temptu, my skin is glowing and the coverage is so lovely and light that it literally looks like I just have really great skin!
There are a few innovations that I would love to see in Temptu‘s future. A self tanning pod is a must and a variety of different makeup formulas, like oil-free, moisturizing, and lifting would reach an even wider market. It would also be a great idea to create some treatments that could be dispersed through the Temptu, like a liquid Retin-A or Vitamin C. Plus, a double release button for easier release of the pods would also be helpful.
The basic Temptu system (available exclusively at Sephora or online at: http://www.temptu.com/) retails for $225 and includes: the airbrush pin, a powerful yet lightweight compressor, a hose, an adapter, an Airbrush cradle, a how-to DVD and a complete instructional manual. The pods are also available at Sephora and retail for an affordable $55 for a two month supply of foundation and $35 each for two months worth of highlighter and blush! (I also recommend the Retouch Powder, if you like me, tend towards shine in the t-zone.)
Some TGATP tips for using your Temptu:
- While your tendency, at first, will be towards more coverage, the foundation actually looks better if applied lightly.
- Make sure not to hold the pin too close to your face. Although it feels as if nothing is coming out, the machine is working!
- A circular motion gives the best overall coverage.
- For a light and natural glow, set the machine for light when applying the highlighter.
- Get a blush a little darker than the site recommends as it goes on so light, it is not always detectable. I also recommend setting the machine for a little more for the blush.
- Make sure to save at least one of the pokers for future use.
