TGATP Gift Idea: Beatles CDs and Games from Restoration Hardware

From the new Beatles Rock Band from MTV Games to the line of fun products from Restoration Hardware, Beatlemania is back! I have been a Beatle fan since birth as my older sister was already mad for them! I inherited her old LPs upon which she fondly scribbled the name of which Beatle was singing lead on each track. Later, in junior high school, my Mom had to buy me all their LPS all over again and she proclaimed that our house had gone through Beatlemania twice! I remember where I was when John was shot and how my Mom and I just cried and cried. Later, during my wacky Band-Aid days in London, I had a number of fun encounters with the family of the Beatles. I shared champagne with Cynthia Lennon, at her joint called “Lennon’s”. Based in Covent Garden, it was a shrine to the Beatles. I also partied with Ringo’s kids and shared some stolen kisses with his youngest son in a studio closet. (I was someone else’s date at the time!) This summer, I got to meet the lovely Sean Lennon at the launch of Charlotte Ronson’s JC Penney line and he graciously posed for a shot. And finally, being an ethnic and brainy muse chick that has dated tons of band boys, I related to Yoko and positively hated the way that people constantly vilified her. I’ve always felt that was mostly the famous UK xenophobia at work.

Still mad for the Beatles, All Together Now, the newly re-mastered box set with all of their CDS and a coffee table book, is at the top of my Christmas wish list. I recently purchased the Beatles Collector’s Edition Monopoly set, which is just a blast. Instead of hotels and houses, players stage listening parties and concerts while trying to avoid the taxman. In keeping with the theme, the playing pieces are a strawberry, a walrus, a sun, a raccoon, an octopus, and a hammer! I am planning to also purchase the Beatles Trivial Pursuit. It could make for a real fun TGATP night to have guests dress up in ‘60’s garb and play the games to a Beatles soundtrack! Check out for Restoration Hardware: http://www.restorationhardware.com/ for the box set and some great framed photos . They are, unfortunately, sold out of the games so you have to hit Amazon for those! Jai Guru Deva Om…
