Chef Robert Irvine Hosts The Front Burner Competition At Summer Fancy Food Show

The competition will be fierce at this year’s Front Burner Foodservice Pitch Competition taking place at the 64th Summer Fancy Food Show. The Specialty Food Association (SFA) is pleased to announce that the event will be hosted by celebrity Chef Robert Irvine.

“We’re honored to have Chef Irvine host one of the most popular events at our Show,” said Phil Kafarakis, president of the Specialty Food Association. “The Front Burner competition allows brands to flex their business-building muscles in a real-world situation, and lets the audience see first-hand the complexities of selling to foodservice. Chef Irvine is a perfect example of success in this segment, and we’re very gratified that he’s agreed to be with us.”

The first Front Burner Foodservice Pitch Competition took place at the 2017 Winter Fancy Food Show and has continued at both the Summer and Winter Shows since that time. Winners have included Hummustir, a deconstructed hummus-making kit; black pepper bacon jam from TBJ Gourmet; and Brooklyn Delhi’s Tomato Achaar condiment.

“Selling to foodservice can be tricky,“ said Chef Irvine, “I’m looking forward to seeing how specialty food makers pitch their products to a panel of foodservice pros. I’ve made my career in foodservice and know how fast-paced and exciting it can be. I’m looking forward to a pitch competition that’s just as thrilling.”

The Front Burner Competition will be held on Monday, July 2 at 9am at the Jacob Javits Center.  The event is only for registered Summer Fancy Food Show attendees.

The Summer Fancy Food Show is a trade only event held at the Jacob Javits Center from Saturday, June 30 – Monday, July 2.  For more information or to register for the show, please visit specialtyfood.com.
