Relax and UNWIND

January is always all about renewal in my house.  I throw out the bad habits that creep back into my Life over the holidays, like overeating, overspending, and running myself into the ground, and start completely fresh.  Since most people also don’t really get back into the swing of events and business till mid-January, it is also a time to start taking mega care of myself.  The changes have been major.  Three years ago, during this break, I gave up smoking, which was like a surreal journey into the bowels of hell with sweats, nights without sleep, and vivid nightmares from Chantix. When you see the ads describing the side effects of those babies, believe them!  Chantix made me totally MENTAL!  Ultimately, I had to ditch the blue pills and ended up going with hypnosis, acupuncture, and some wonderful herbs from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, a place I highly, highly recommend to you all!

Last year at this time, I gave up alcohol after a long tumultuous relationship with it.  This was, again, quite a process and I relapsed and finally gave it up for good last March.  But with the help of alcohol-free beers, I am proud to say it has been ten blissfully alcohol-free months!

In preparation for 2012, this year’s Life change is of a less dramatic kind and involves more subtle spiritual changes.  My main goal this year is to make more time to relax.  More healthy, home-made meals, more use of my spa equipment, more me time, in general.  Thankfully, I have found a secret little potion from Frontier Beverage called Unwind, that is assisting me in that pursuit.  Unwind is a relaxation drink with just 40 calories and 10 grams of sugar that includes calming ingredients, like Melatonin and Valerian Root.  (These are both ingredients which Dr. Andrew Weil states are great natural sleep aids.) It comes in three thirst-quenching flavors:  Cirtus Orange, Pom Berry, and TGATP favorite, Goji Grape.  I first tried Unwind at this year’s Food Fete and loved it. Then last month, at the height of my holiday frenzy, the folks from the company sent some over and I honestly could not have appreciated it more.

To get the best night’s sleep you’ve had in ages, pour Unwind into your most elegant glass and pair it with a bubble bath for maximum “chillation”!  But careful to only drink it when you truly want to wind down.  I sipped a can while working on this post and am now ready for a nice long nap!
