That Girl At The Party Salutes Vogue and Anna Wintour

image

Bravo to Anna Wintour for a lovely Vogue cover and spread on hot couple of the moment Kanye West and Kim Kardashian!

I was frankly stunned by the overreation to the cover, which erupted on Twitter and Facebook. I couldn’t disagree more. In fact, my first reaction was how wonderful and amazing the progress this country has made is! It was just 50 years ago, when a Black man could be lynched for wearing his suit on any day other than Sunday because it signified he was too prideful – “uppity” was the word used. And don’t forget the hundreds lynched and murdered for even being thought to LOOK at a White woman.  Emmett Till comes to mind.

Now you have a Black man worth $100 million, who not only dresses well but had his own clothing line, on the cover of the Fashion Bible, with his White fiancee and in the magazine with her and their adorable baby! So honestly people, get over it. You have knuckleheads, like Sarah Gellar, who hasn’t been relevant in ions, claiming they are going to cancel their subscriptions over this?  Really, Sarah?? Where is your righteous indignation for more pressing Fashion issues, like the whitewash of all magazines and runways!  Kim and Kanye are a beautiful stylish couple, who dress impeccably.  It’s not as if the cast of Duck Dynasty or Honey Boo Boo are on the cover!

Despite progress in other areas, this ridiculous overreaction by wannabe arbiters of style is just proof of the ugly racism and snobby elitism that still permeates the fashion industry. I said it once, I’ll say it again “Bravo Anna” for the courage to not succumb to fear and bigotry.
