InStyle Magazine/Aquascutum London at Saks

Mary Kate Olsen and friend

Finally fully recovered from a combination of a Superbowl hangover and a going around stomach flu. I headed to Saks for the InStyle Magazine/Aquascutum London “Celebration of Colour” party held on the 4th floor.  Food was delish, though sparse, and wine and water were amply served.  Inexplicably since this had been dubbed as a “celebration of colour” and a women’s wear event, two male models were positioned on a platform before the crowd adorned in black and white!  In addition, they were pasty-faced white boys so “colour” was in no way being celebrated there!  However, patrons were offered free color analysis by the professional consultants on hand.  I unfortunately, missed my opp for that, as an attractive guy who was half- French half Black, from Bordeaux, had me very briefly spellbound.   In an attempt to be coquettish, I lamely blurted out “Good wine!” when he said where he was from.  He was not at all responsive to my flirtation leaving me to believe that he was either typically and irritatingly French, or totally gay!

Rumor had it that a more swinging fete for Elite Model Management was set to jump off at 7pm on the 5th Floor, so tried to slink off incognito to that when like eight other folks got the same idea!  Now a couple of folks not on a party list may be able to get through.  But the chances of 9 people of color showing up, none of whom are on the list all at the same time, is just not a good look.  Fortunately, they headed for the wrong floor, so it ended up being no problem getting in.   And it was a major blast, although at a standard 5’7”, I felt a bit like Gulliver, since all the models were like 5”11.  Ran smack dab into Mary Kate (or was it Ashley?) Olsen who while initially refusing a picture quickly and charmingly acquiesced.

092Also met 90’s supermodel, Luciana who was towing all the young model chicks around for Elite.  I love the model girls as they are so young and fun and for whatever reason they always really dig me too.  They posed for me and we started rating guys by laughing at the pitiful ones and admiring the hotties.  It was particularly hilarious to watch all the men I know act like they had a rat’s chance in hell to date these young beauties and to see the girls just roll their eyes at their advances! The strength of the male ego is just an amazing thing!  The one thing you have to admire about men who reside in America is that they seemingly do not have the same body image and confidence issues they have forced us, women, to all share!  Even a short, broke, sneaker wearing, practically homeless, party-crashing man still seems to think he can be a “modelizer” and date Gisele Bundchen lookalikes!  (I won’t name names here.  But this person definitely does exist)!
