Fashions at the Indie Spirit Awards were too dark this year!  The sea of black made everyone look like they were attending a funeral rather than a festive occasion!

The roundup: At least, Mariah Carey looked half decent and the tatas were only moderately on display although she is still seemingly desperately seeking a really good stylist!  Maggie Gyllenhal looked wretched in what appeared to be a black silk toga with heavy black cotton tights!  Carey Mulligan’s outfit made me think she had quit acting and taken up waitressing in a Chinese fusion/dominatrix restaurant.  Rosario Dawson was her usual gorgeous self in a perfect lace dress.  I’m on the fence about Olivia Wilde, as the dress was ok but the color was not the best for her.  Mena Suvari came dressed as a Goth widow at a funeral with a dreadful hairdo and a saucer on her head!  Vera Famiga paired a lovely red dress with horrid shoes and   makeup that was say too dark.   Sharon Lawrence, inexplicably, came in (gasp!) jeans, which made her look like she was going to her local dive bar!  Def not chic!  (My friend, a stylist in the UK called Sharon’s outfit “Manson chic!”) Dana Delany one word: why?  Her outfit was the “who did it and why” of the evening!  Most of the men looked a mess except for Ryan Kwaten and that gorgeous Jason Lewis, both in grey suits!  Wonder if Jason and Rosario ran into each other?  Now there’s a hot couple that needs to get back together and get down to producing some offspring!  Tom Ford also looked amazing.  But then, he IS Tom Ford!  And my boy, Morgan Spurlock also cut a dashing figure.

Gabourey Sidibe was adorable in a black cocktail dress.  One does hope that her success will spur some weight loss as carrying that much weight is definitely not healthy and there is a really cute face under all that extra girth.  Monique and her hubby Sidney are an adorable couple.  But Monique needed to let her hair down.  And I am not sure about the wisdom of announcing to the world that you let your husband mess around on you.  And Helen Mirren and her hubby, Taylor Hackford looked blissfully happy.  Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely were the worst dressed couple of the evening with him in (gasp!) faded jeans and her in an ill-fitting sequined dress.  Were they going to the same event?  The best dressed of the evening were Taraji Henson in a black off the shoulder dress and accessories done right (even her shoe was perfect!) and Mia Wasiowska in a pixish darling little white dress with black tights.
