NAACP 100th Anniversary Convention

Julian Bond & NAACP Honorees

Julian Bond
With the ushering in of the marvelous Obama era, what a fitting year for the NAACP to be celebrating its 100-year Anniversary! Just imagine the bravery of starting an organization devoted to the “advancement of coloured people” in 1909, just 47 years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, with African-Americans still living under terrorist rule. The convention is being held at the Hilton (1335 Avenue of the Americas) through July 16th and will include worshops, luncheons, and galas on site and around town.
