Opening of the Harbour Restaurant

Harbour Invite

The Harbour Restaurant (@ 290 Hudson @ Spring St) held their friends and family opening night and thank God, they choose to adopt me for this marvelous night!  We were first treated to a full open bar with passed oysters and clams on the half shell and then escorted to our tables in the lovely dining area modeled after the inside of a yacht!  Rosie Perez was seated with her guests directly across from us.  Prepared by the Michelin Star Chef Joe Isidori, the food was a culinary delight.  The first thing that we were served was an assortment of yummy bread, including especially beautiful raisin walnut bread, with yogurt and candied ginger instead of butter.  (The dip is something I definitely plan to recreate at home!)  Each of us had a choice of one of three mouthwatering appetizers -  a fresh herb and vegetable chowder which was poured by the waiters from tiny pitchers at the table, a garden salad with buttermilk dressing and smoked blue cheese, and a kampachi crudo of la quercia ham, crawfish, jicama, & arugula.  We were then offered the choice of either yellow curried red hake, arctic char with miso, grapefruit and yuzu or a braised chuck steak with spicy eggplant, parsnip and cucumber yogurt for a main course!  Since there were three people at my table, we tried a variety of both the appetizers and the entrees and they were all simply to die for!  Dessert was black forest cake with sour cherries and chocolate mouse served with homemade ice cream atop chocolate crumble.

Although two separate dinner seatings of 7pm and 8pm were allotted, the management did not enforce them so we had a jubilant three-hour dinner party!  The wait staff was fun and extremely accommodating, especially our waitress the lovely Angie.  Wine flowed freely throughout dinner followed by a cognac after dessert and champagne after dinner!  So needless to say, I was very buzzed by the time I left.   Although I had seven events to hit, I very happily spent my whole night here and will definitely make my next hot date bring me back!
